It’s almost like the makers of these “as seen on TV” products haven’t moved past their 1975 fascination with the microwave. Right there on the box it says the Micro Grill “transforms your microwave into a turbo-charged grilling machine.” “Complete meals in under seven minutes,” it says it “works in any microwave.” We’ll see about that! Do you really want to “barbecue” your meat in the microwave all year round? Sounds a little disturbing…

Fasta Pasta is a microwavable pasta maker that promises to save you time and possibly half a dozen trips to the kitchen checking if your pasta is properly boiling or almost done. This is my number one pet peeve of cooking pasta! It consists of a bottom plastic cooker and a lid for straining the pasta. There’s also detailed cooking instructions so you know the exact amount of water and time it takes to cook each type of pasta. No guess work involved here. Does it really allow you to cook pasta to perfection in the microwave?
