Blox Fabric Protector is a new product on the AsSeenonTV.com site that promises to block stains before they begin. The infomercial claims that it acts as the barrier to coat your clothes and stop stains before they start. Looking at the ketchup and mustard demonstration on the infomercial, my first thought that it was was just way too unbelievable. If you have kids that love to make a mess while eating, you’ll get a kick out of this video. Spaghetti and juice everywhere but in the mouth!
Blox Infomercial Claims
- Blox is the only in-wash fabric protector that protects your clothes from nasty stains.
- Add Blox Wash Fabric Protector to the wash for your washable clothes in order to block stains.
- Use Blox Quick-spray Fabric Protector to protect upholstery, carpets, canvas purses, shoes and bags, car seats and dry cleaned garments.
- Blox repels 100´s of stains but does not affect the texture, feel or breathability of fabric.
- Blox contains no harsh chemicals or fumes and is dermatologist tested and hypo-allergenic. It also repels water and rain.
There’s variations to their original offer but the original one was that you get a package of three 16 oz bottles for $20.Two of them you add to your wash and the other is a quick spray fabric protector.
The Blox website does mention that…
It’s best used in front loading washer when using the Wash Fabric Protector.
Liquid stains will bead with Blox. You can hold a paper towel close to absorb the stain.
With thicker stains such as as ketchup or yogurt just flush the stain away with water then pad dry.
Blox Fabric Protector Test Results
- Directions say to use the warm cycle and then add four ounces of Blox to your fabric softener
dispenser. It requires you to use four ounces per load which is actually a quarter of the whole bottle. This ends up being $5 a load. Although if it saves these clothes from being ruined it could actually save money in the end. - The first test was a fabric place mat sprayed with Blox Quick Spray Protector. Mustard was dumped on it and then rolled right off under tap water.
- Next, one year old Angelina has fruit juice and spaghetti sauce dumped on both an untreated shirt and a shirt washed with the Blox treatment. The fruit juice actually rolls right off and only requires a bit of dabbing with a paper towel to be completely removed.
- Spaghetti sauce also comes right off the shirt when the stain is run under water. The important thing is that for all solid food stains not to push the solids into the shirt but instead run them under the tap to get the food to roll off. I saw another video review where they pushed the spaghetti sauce into the clothes which will leave a stain you can’t get out.
Blox Fabric Protector seems to work well with liquid stains. It may be a litte trickier for solid stains but it does work on both types. Also it’s very expensive if it’s going to going to cost you $5 per load so you can decide if it’s right for you although I suspect most moms would find this a very expensive way to keep clothes stain free. From clean clothes to spotless floors, here’s the Slipper Genie. Not too effective for sweeping floors but it looks like fun!
