Grease Bullet is a cleaner for your cookware that kind of resembles a giant effervescent tablet as it dissolves in the sink. In the infomercial you see a parade of pots turn shiny and sparkling…”Just like new!” right after being dipped in hot water with Grease Bullet. Cleaning up after a greasy dinner can mean extra soaking and scrubbing. Lots of mixed reviews on this product! Here’s why…
Grease Bullet Infomercial Claims
- “Just fill your sink with hot tap water, drop in the grease bullet and soak your toughest baked-on cookware for 30 minutes. They’ll sparkle like new inside and out with no scrubbing!”
- Removes burnt-on grease and residue from your cookware.
- In small print, the infomercial states that cleaning effectiveness depended on the age and severity of the stain.
- It’s supposed to work fast work on barbecue grills.
The instructions call for one Grease Bullet tablet for every 2 gallons of water. You have to soak for at least 30 minutes and longer (sometimes overnight) for really tough jobs. Inside the bullet-shaped container contains 12 round wafer-like cleaning tablets for around $10.
What’s It Made Of?
Enzymes to remove protein
Abrasives to remove stains
Bleach to bleach stains
Soap to remove grease
The tablets also contain a small amount of phosphates
Pros
- Grease Bullet used on greasy pots - The pots came out only needing a gentle wiping, eliminating a lot of the work.
- Major burnt on grease on a frying pan - When you pull the pan out of the water it may still look the same. It won’t come out sparkling clean like on the infomercials. However, much of the burned on grease does wipe right off or at least is much easier to scrub off.
- If you actually boil the water and crush the tablets and let the pot soak overnight they will work. The grime doesn’t magically fall off like in the infomercial but it’s easier to scrub off.
- It’s available in most stores that sell ASOTV items.
Cons
The manufacturer does a great job of stressing the need for gloves. The funny thing is that the lady on the infomercial and on the package isn’t wearing gloves!- Those tablets will not dissolve without a considerable amount of help. You will have to crush them up and use boiling hot water to get Grease Bullet to work.
- Pots don’t just come out perfectly restored. Elbow grease is still required.
- You’re not supposed to have to scrub, but to remove the remaining residue the instructions do tell you to rub.
- You might have to soak it a while or even overnight which some people find is a waste of time.
- You won’t get sparkling clean like on the infomercial.
- You can only get your money back only if the product is returned unopened.
- It’s expensive - It costs almost a dollar per tablet.
- Not environmentally friendly because there’s phosphates in the product.
Mixed reviews on grease-coated BBQ grills - On the “Shopping Bags” show I saw them compare two really greasy grills. Both are left to soak overnight…one with a grease bullet tablet (they should have used two ) and another with regular dishwashing detergent. The next day, both grills with the two different cleaners showed very similar results. Both still required some old fashioned elbow grease to get clean.
In Review
Grease Bullet for everyday dishwashing is not worth your time or money. Although, if you want to bring an old pan with baked on grease back to life, Grease Bullet might be the answer. Get some boiling hot water, break up two or three Grease Bullets like in the video and leave it overnight. I have seen demonstrations where it does work but its to bad the infomercial is overly dramatized and doesn’t work exactly as they claim… I’d love to hear if you’ve had a different experience than this. There is now a Grease Bullet Deluxe available which they say is more concentrated and is supposed to work faster. If I had a choice I’d try that over the regular Grease Bullet. And now for the amazing Kaboom Never Scrub review!

I have used grease bullet several times to clean the steel burners on my stove. Yes it does not work if you use it as the directions say. But if you have the time, place the item to be cleaned it a large pot of boiling water with at least 2 grease bullet tablets. Let the items boil for about 30 minutes. Using a wire brush watch the baked on grease come off very easily. Boil a little more if needed for burnt on stains. I LOVE THIS AND AM HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING IT BECAUSE OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS.
