H2O Mop is yet another steam cleaner for the floor. This one is really perplexing because of all the mixed reviews out there. Have a look at how it did in this unbiased review.
H2O Mop Claims
- No chemicals or detergents needed
- Emits 1500 watts of steam power
- Lightweight and easy to operate
- Swiveling triangle shaped head
- Triple action micro fiber pad
- Lifts dirt and grime from floors in just seconds and kills dust mites and bacteria
- Works wonders on laminate, hardwood, marble, vinyl, ceramic and most sealed floor surfaces
- Included glider attachment makes it a snap to steam clean rugs and carpets
- Comes with instructions, measuring cup and two super-absorbent micro fiber cloth pads. 47"H with 17'L cord
- One year warranty
Advantages
- The mop does work great on all sealed floors
- Doesn't leave streaks on floors
- Washable pads are convenient and clean the floor well
- The mop angles well around hard to reach areas
Disadvantages
- Quite expensive with the $100 price tag
- Poor customer service from main H20 Mop site
- Doesn't work well on carpets
- It's inconvenient but not impossible to operate with the 17 foot cord. It should be a bit longer.
- It takes some force to move it around the floor. It's good to let the mop get saturated before starting to clean the floor. Be careful not to burn your floor though. You'll have to figure out a way to saturate the mop without burning the floor. Don't leave the mop stationary on the floor for more than a few seconds in one spot. One lady mentioned that she did that and her floor popped or cracked with the high intensity steam.
- If you ordered the mop online and want to return it the company Thane, it costs around $75 to return it.
- Some assembly is required when you first get the mop. http://honestinfomercialreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/video/h20_mop.flv
H2O Mop Issues
I can't ignore the fact that there are various negative [tags]h20 mop[/tags]comments around the internet.
The thing is you don't know how many of them could be written by a competing company with a similar product. Also, a common problem with infomercial products is that there seems to be bad batches of product from time to time. There’s quality control issues when it comes from the factory. How else can you explain the mirad of problems with infomercial products and why some people completely love or hate a product? I guess you could play it safe by always buying infomercial products at a store where returning it is a relatively easy process and less costly.
Some common comments
- The mop doesn’t work with tap water. It’s better to use distilled.
- Terrible product, poor workmanship, company won't work with you.
- Thane sent a replacement mop and that also broke.
- After one month, the mop would no longer emit steam. It would just drip lots of water.
- I. Plamer of New York mentioned the following
When it came I tested it on every floor surface in my home including ceramic tile, wood floors, and vinyl flooring. This mop, when used properly and slowly, cleaned the floor so well it looks almost new! Ceramic tile, also great. It even cleaned the grout. My floors look better than they have in a looong time.
Final Verdict
H20 Mop in the unbiased video above, looks like it works perfectly fine. So comparing the pros and cons and consumer comments it's really hard to decide on this mop. In comparison with the Shark Steam Mop, the H2O Mop pad doesn't keep flipping off the swivel head and H20 Mop actually emits pressurized steam. So I could imagine H20 would clean better... that is if the mop actually holds up!

Hi,
great Review! I bought that H2O Mop 6month ago and it works great!
Greetings from Germany, Berlin!
my h2o broke after about 6 uses. it does not emit steam now and just makes a humming noise. we bought it at zellers and lost receipt about 2 years ago. its been broken forever, waste of money.
My second H@O mop just broke after about ten uses. Same issue as the first – stopped producing steam after about ten uses.
Works great for about ten times, so if you don’t mind the $10 per use price tag, this piece of junk might be for you.
I bought this in the spring and absolutley loved it…it made my floors so clean and they shined. By Aug it didn’t work anymore…hums and drips water but doesn’t produce steam.
I’ve had my H2O mop 3 years now, and love it. Last week it quit producing steam, so, since it wasn’t working anyway, I took it apart (very easy). I looked it over and found a connection had come loose, connected it back, and for right now, it is working just like new
Same here, bought it at Zellers, used it a few times, now just hums and is winking at the garbage can, what a pile of garbage. How can companies get away with peddling substandard junk and not being accountable? They strike up a deal in China for a containerload of garbage, dole it out through the big box stores and then tuck tail and run when the “garbage” hits the fan. Seems like they sold at least half a million of these – hands away from the importer and this product.
it worked fine for about 10 uses, then the green light failed to come on, and the steam would only come out for a few seconds, then it emitted a long squeeking sound from the steam somehow escaping. took it apart but didnt see anything unusual…not happy
I BOUGHT THE STEAM CLEANER AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT THIS YEAR. HAVE BEEN USING ITS SINCE CHRISTMAS. WENT TO USE IT TODAY NOTHING. I TOOK IT APART AND USED THE LITTLE CLEANING TOOL PUT IN THE HEATER CORE A BUNCH OF TIMES UNTIL IT WENT ALL THE WAY IN. I QUICKLY PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND TRIED IT. A FEW SPURTS OF STEAM AND IT STARTED RUNNING PERFECT.
When the mop worked it was wonderful. After roughly 6 uses, mop no longer emits steam. I can plug it in, the light will turn green indicating that is good to go, but no steam will come out. I have tried cleaning it, but nothing. All in all, not happy with this product.
