Craft Lite Cutter Fails to Impress Most Crafters

Craft Lite Cutter is the “As Seen on TV” version of a paper cutter for Scrapbookers. Most scrapbookers seem to be more intrigued by the six interchangeable decorative cutting heads and not by the built in backlight. You'd be surprised at what crafters really think about this infomercial product.

Craft Lite Cutter Details

You need 3 AA batteries to power the [tags]craft-lite-cutter[/tags]LED light inside. The interchangeable blades allow you to cut a straight line cut, a perforated cut, a wavy edge blade, a zig zag edge and a postage stamp edge. There's also one that isn't a blade. It's actually a  fold cartridge to  makes a fold in the paper. The blades slide onto the guide quite easily.  You can turn on the light which you can see through the paper so you can see exactly where the blade will cut.

What Crafters are Saying

Not all ladies are satisfied with their Craft Lite Cutter. Here are some of their comments.

  • Comparing a regular scrapbook cutter with the Craft Lite Cutter, the Craft Lite doesn't cut as smoothly going through the paper when using the same amount of pressure. You have to press down hard to make the cut. It's only meant to cut or one two thin sheets of paper at a time and that's it.
  • Some ladies found that the blades aren't sharp or long enough for good clean cuts. The edges look ragged and torn.
  • The Craft Lite Cutter measurements are way off and may not be set up in the same way that your used to with your other cutter.
  • When ordering from the Craft Lite website the cutter isn't worth the price with all the added shipping charges.
  • The website is outdated and you can't review your order at checkout to see what you've selected. Also customer service is rude and doesn't help when you have a problem.
  • It's hard to buy replacement parts.
  • When using the different blades such as the wavy line blade, it's not easy to find the cut line like it would be when using the straight line blade.
  • The light only works when you use thin paper. It barely shows through on heavier paper like on stock or photo paper.

The Craft Lite Cutter, judging from others comments, isn't the best paper cutter around. You might have more luck with a cutter that actually cuts paper instead of having all these extra features that don't really work for all your needs. Have you had an experience with this cutter? I'd love to hear from you! Also, here's another item crafters might be interested in after seeing the infomercial. It's Might Mendit! Although there are cheaper alternatives that may work more effectively.

I find the full size versions of the straight cutters like that impossible to use, so I can’t say I hold out hope for the smaller versions! Thanks for the insight! I love the blog!
