Turbo Snake is meant to make our lives a bit easier by clearing up slow running bathroom drains. Usually the culprit are those nasty hairballs and always the fault of us women! Turbo Snake basically looks like a piece of electrical wire with some velcro tape on the end - very high end stuff here! Can this little contraption really do what the makers claim?
Turbo Snake Claims
- Fast and easy way to unclog hair clogs in bathroom sinks, tubs and showers.
- Simply glide Turbo Snake down the drain, twist, then pull out.
- Specially designed head grabs & locks onto hair clogs to remove and free the drain instantly.
- Flexible design easily maneuvers down the drain to seek out clogs without having to remove the drain stopper.
- The Turbo Snake package comes with 1 sink snake and 1 shower and tub snake.
Please click on the blog headline above if you can’t see the video. Heartland News recently tested Turbo Snake and here’s what they found…lots and lots of hair! That’s usually the culprit with most bathroom drains. For other type drains forget it. This product isn’t meant for that and won’t work.
Advantages
- Very effective and easy to remove hair clogs.
- Very easy to feed it in and around the sink stopper and then down the drain.
- No need to use drain chemicals.
Disadvantages
- Only works on hair clogs and nothing else.
- Sometimes it can be difficult, messy and a little gross to get all the gunk off the the little teeth.
- Expensive shipping charges on the TurboSnake.com site for such a small product.
- Some reports that it’s harder to get a clog that’s past two feet into the drain since its only designed to turn one corner of a bend.
- The durability isn’t that great since the rod tends to bend and twist after each use.
You can also try removing a hair ball like this…Simply snip little cuts into a straw half way through. Voila you have a little straw with barbs to grip onto the gunky hair.
Turbo Snake may be worth it if you buy a few of them to keep handy for hair clogs only. I couldn’t imagine paying $8 just for shipping one little package of Turbo Snake in the mail. (BuytheTurboSnake.com/GetTurboSnake.com) You can buy them at Walgreens or Walmart for $10. I’ve also seen them on eBay for a total of $5 including the shipping. But again I couldn’t imagine just buying one at a time. It would only be worth buying on line if you picked up a few and had them all shipped in one envelope.
BTW I’ve seen similar type products that look much more durable but Turbo Snake is good enough for those small jobs. Here’s another hardware tool that actually works called the Thumbs Up Driver.
