Twin Draft Guards supposedly will save us from those annoying, drafty door and windows. A US statistic states that a whopping 30% of our heat goes out through the bottom of doors every winter. Yikes that a lot!The idea seems simple enough. Simply slide the Draft Guard under your door to seal out the heat or cold. It’s made of a piece of fabric with two tube-like holes to slide the foam pieces in. It also has Velcro patches at the ends so the tubes don’t fall out. Now that’s high tech!
They say no more repositioning because it’s suppose to move with the door as it opens and closes. They also claim that because of the double air leak protection that it will seal out all drafts. Well, it sort of works that way….See what others are saying.
Twin Draft Guards - Positive Points
- It’s an inexpensive yet effective way to stop drafts from sneaking in under doors.
- It’s simple and convenient if you don’t have to time or knowledge to fix air leakage around doors and windows.
- It can also keep out bad odors, noise and water as well as pests and insects.
- It’s much easier to install than the regular kind of draft guard.
- It’s completely washable. You can take the foam part out and throw it in the washing machine.
- It doesn’t show the dust being that the fabric color is a dark brown.
- You can buy it for $10 at your local Bed Bath and Beyond.

Overall I am very happy with this product. It works great with my standard 1-3/4″ wide door that has a gap of no more than 1/4″. The brown color doesn’t show the dirt and it is easy to throw in the wash.
If you have a standard size front door, this should fit with no adaptations. If you have any problems with this fitting, all you do it resize the foam inside and instructions are included.
Twin Draft Guard - Negative Points
- The number one complaint is that the Draft Guard doesn’t fit under all doors as the infomercial claims.
- It tends to require repositioning after you open and close the door since it slips out of place.
- It doesn’t always fit snug up against every door.
- They say you can cut the length of the draft guard. Although, if your door isn’t wide enough to fill the area between the two styrofoam sides, it won’t lay flush with the door.
- For some users with a regular door size, it only slightly reduced the draft.
- When you open and close your door you have to reposition it since it slips out of place.
- Not very attractive looking when you place it under your door.
- Many comments with how unimpressed they are with the quality of it. It’s cheap foam and fabric and very flimsy.
- Over time it tends to stretch out.
- If you have carpet it may not glide over it and will get sucked under the door as you open and close it.
- I can’t think of why anyone would benefit from using this on a window as opposed to using a regular draft stop.
- If you use it on your window you can’t lock it.
A Couple of Hints
One user had more of an issue with a draft above the door. He reported having great success putting one at the top of his door. And of course no problem with the door opening and closing. Some people have tacked the draft guard under the door and it stayed in place quite well.

In Review
Twin Draft guard overall got so so reviews but if you want a quick and convenient solution for a real draft problem this may be an answer. Just don’t expect high quality… think of it only as a temporary fix! Expect it to slip from time to time and it won’t block all of your door drafts. It’ll work best if your door doesn’t have a high threshold. Also it works much better on smooth surfaces. Now if you ever have a keen desire to put up some wall hangings here a little Hercules Hooks review… I know you’re just dying to read it!
