The Flat Fold Colander is a large capacity colander that folds up for easy storage. I really hate having to have separate sized colanders for different foods. Like one for the lettuce, one for the rice and beans and another for the veges and taters. So could this fancy new colander really put our old standard strainers to shame?
Advantages
- Pouring the pasta out into a bowl is no problem.
- Works well for both small and large loads. It can actually hold up to 10 lb of potatoes or pasta even though the infomercial says 5lbs.
- Sits easily in the sink and it has higher legs than a regular colander so it will never touch it.
- The spout to pour the water is easier than using a colander. There are lots of drainage holes so it drains fairly quickly and the water doesn’t back up.
- You can store it in very small spaces and is easy to clean.
- Great for camping or if you have limited space in your kitchen cabinets.
- Dishwasher safe - you can close it slightly when you put it in.
Disadvantages
- Not as sturdy as a metal colander.
- It may not hold up over time especially if you run it in a hot dishwasher over and over again. You can also easily pull apart the plastic hinges.
- Lentils and rice may stick in the holes since they are bigger than a colander.
The Flat Fold Colander should hold up all right for regular household use but not for heavy duty industrial use such as in a restaurant. You can save yourself some postage fees by heading to your nearest Target, Walmart and Walgreens store to find this colander for $10 bucks!
