Lid Punch – A Clever Gadget for Those Hard to Open Jars

Lid Punch is a good alternative for those of you disappointed in the One Touch Jar Opener. This is a really neat little gadget that actually works. Viatek introduced this product back in 2008 but it just recently featured it as an infomercial.

It's quite simple to use. You simply place the Lid Punch over the center of the jar lid then press down. It works by breaking the vacuum seal in jars after the whole is punched in. This equilibrates the pressure which makes it much easier to open the jar. Neat idea! In the video they tried several different jars... pickles, paso and salsa and amazingly it worked very well!

My first question was how do you seal your food? The Lid Punch also has 4 magnets that cover the hole. In the video they demonstrate if the seal actually holds by turning a full jar of pickles upside down. And sure enough it does fully hold the juice in.

The Lid Punch is a pretty clever gadget, although if you have weak hands it still may a challenge punching that hole in the lid. Now you may have seen Always Fresh Containers and may be surprised at theses test results.
