The one touch jar opener has a design flaw. it can’t be shut off if it slips on the jar! I’ve had two and they both broke when one side slipped up on the jar and torqued the other side until it shattered. If I could have shut it down and restarted I would still have one; but, I won’t have another!

I had my one touch jar opener for 2 years and it only broke because of something stupid that I did!!!!! (Won’t tell you what I did cause I still feel pretty stupid about it!!!
Anyway I ABSOLUTELY LOVED mine and I was in a panic when I couldn’t find it in the stores anymore. Just ordered 2 more on line because I have arthritis in my hands and without it I would have a miserable time trying to get these jars opened. I guess I can only hope that the replacements I ordered will last as long as my old one did!

Bought one for my mom, It also broke after 4 uses. The inner grip is made of plastic and have looked for replacement parts, but there are none to be found.

Mine worked for the first few jars but when opening one of my jars of peaches that I canned it broke. It has just been canned the day before so I didn’t think it would be a problem opening. It seems like the design was a great idea but until they make is with steel gear guides it will never be a reliable product.

THIS PRODUCT IS USELESS. MY MOM HAD A STROKE. THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD TOOL TO OPEN JARS. FIRST ONE BROKE. NOW SECOND ONE STOPPED WORKING AFTER 3 USES. NO WAY TO SEND BACK. CO. NOT ONLINE FOR RETURNS OR HELP. BED, BATH & BEYOND SHOULD TAKE NOTE THAT THEY ARE SELLING A CHEAP, SUB-STANDARD PRODUCT. THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BUY CHEAP, CHEAP FROM OUTSIDE USA.

I find the item useful. yes, it can be dangerous. at least set it in a shallow pan and especially place a cover over it as it begins to grip. no one wants a mess or flying glass (cuts and eyes). the round plastic sprocket split under pressure on ours.

VERY DANGEROUS! Parts shattered on a wide, tight jar and were sent flying across the room.

Wow that’s really dangerous! Such a great concept but poor product quality. The inner grip should be made of steel not plastic. Thanks for reporting this Sarah!

I got about 3 or 4 uses as well. Honestly, when it slipped on the jar and broke, we were lucky to have not been looking at it too closely, as the piece that broke literally flew like a shot across the room. I wouldn’t recommend this item to anyone. It worked well a couple of times, but was dangerous when it broke. Don’t bother with this item. Waste of time and money.
