Vidalia Chop Wizard put to the test

Vidalia Chop Wizard at first glance seems to be a simpler alternative to the Vidalia Slice Wizard. The announcer asks “Are you tired of all that chopping and all those tears?” This simple little mini food processor will “chop your entire onion with just one swift motion!” So incredibly fast that you will “chop, chop, chop your prep time right in half!” Let’s see if the Chop Wizard cuts down on time consuming and labor intensive kitchen prep work.

FOX16’s Kevin Kelly gave this kitchen gadget a try. He hands it over to the executive chef so he can give it a try. BTW you can enlarge the video by going into the menu of the video after the 16 second commercial.  Please wait till the Chop Wizard flashes in the video player before you hit play, otherwise you get their late breaking news report. :-)

This restaurant prepped a nice variety of veges which included tomatoes, carrots, onions, mushrooms, egg plant and bell peppers. You can also use it for zucchini,  hard boiled eggs and even for mincing garlic and cubing cheese.

The only problem they had was with the eggplant since its a bit softer than most vegetables. They removed the skin and it was very easy to chop it up.

The chefs 40 minute prep time was reduced to 20 minutes! They all agreed that the Chop Wizard is a keeper.

  • Here's how vidallia chop wizard is put together.Dishwasher safe on top rack only.
  • Cleans up quickly and easily.
  • You can switch the two grids to chop your veges either in large or small pieces.
  • It comes with a little plastic tool for getting small bits of vegetables out.
  • Vegetables come out in perfectly symmetrical squares
  • Measure as you go with the two cup catch container.
  • You can save a few bucks if you get one at Target or Walgreens.
  • There are some reports that after time, the swivel piece at the end breaks off due to all the stress placed on it. This makes your Chop Wizard completely unusable.

Vidalia Chop Wizard has a simplicity that’s part of its charm and it’s totally addictive. Just press down and presto you have such perfect looking veges. You’ll be looking for more things to chop! And it’s nice that after you’re done you can pop it into the dishwasher for a super easy cleanup.
