Aqua Globes is both simple and ingenious in its design. Aqua Globes is a very attractive hand blown glass bulb. At the end is a narrow glass tube that's open on the end. It basically works exactly like an inverted water bottle for small pets and water is dispersed only as needed into your plants soil. Plant gurus say that most of us kill our plants by over watering them. I'm so guilty of that! I actually quit buying plants a year ago. I eventually kill all more poor plants, either by over watering, under watering or not having enough light throughout the winter season.
Aqua Globe Instructions
The instructions recommend that you make a hole in the plant's soil first. Since Aqua Globes is so delicate, you might break it trying to poke it into the soil. Fill up your Aqua Globe and place it in the pre-made hole.
Make sure that it's in at a good depth so your plant won't tip over. You may have to experiment with the angle of the globes because some have noticed the water drains too much at certain angles.
From that point on, the water in the globe is only released as the soil needs it. If the soil is moist, the end of the tube is sealed and no additional water escapes. When the soil dries up, it allows air up into the globe which is exchanged for more water. When the water is gone, just refill the globes.
Aqua Globes mentions that you water it every two weeks. It really depends on a few different factors.
- How dry your soil is
- Air temperature and humidity
- Water consumption needs of a particular plant type or group of plants
- Size of your pots. If you're pot is quite large you may need to use more than one Aqua Globe.
Good Points
Convenient for when you go away on holidays.
Makes watering plants easy and no guess work is involved.
The attractive artistic design of the can enhance the presentation of your plants.
Bad Points
Very breakable and you can’t really use them outdoors if you're going to get hail or wind.
Depending on what soil you’re using, I've heard some people have had problems with the [tags]aqua globes[/tags]ends clogging up with dirt. There was no water that got out to the plant, even after making a pre-made hole. I'm thinking that they must have been using really fine soil. The vast majority of people found that Aqua Globes worked quite well and didn't have this problem.
Aqua Globes are really going over well with most plant lovers. They are now in stores that sell As Seen on TV gardening products 2 for $10! Yay, now maybe I can finally swap my silk plants for real ones... Now here's another comparison - Patch Perfect vs regular grass seed.
