Seed in a Blanket seems to be an easy mess free way to plant flowers. Can you really just cut squares, place them on the ground and watch flowers grow? Wow you hardly have to get your hands dirty! Well since spring is almost here and many of us are thinking of the upcoming planting season… this would be a fairly inexpensive, convenient way to plant flowers. Lets see if it really works!

- Each kit is $10
Flower kits – Sweet William, Johnny Jump Up, China Aster, Baby Blue Eyes, Tri Color Daisy, Orange Poppy
The planting squares that Mary tried are the Sweet Williams and Zinnias. She’s got a decent amount of sunlight and pretty good soil around her home. You have to first water the soil, then space the squares at least six inches a part. Then afterward give them a good watering. The total time is only 10 minutes. You have to water them faithfully everyday for three weeks. There’s definitely was progress over the weeks but guess what the greenery turned out to be…Lots of weeds! How disappointing.
Results from Gardeners
- Others who planted a variety of different kits found different flowers sprouted at different times.
- You’ll have to plant them early since they may take up to 5 weeks for the flowers to sprout.
- Some gardeners had no results even after 5 weeks of waiting.
- The amount of care it takes to get your flowers to grow may not be worth it.
- You can buy 2,000 of the same seeds in bulk for less money.
Seed In a Blanket definitely doesn’t work for everyone. It’s probably safer just to buy starter plants from your local greenhouse. I wouldn’t take a chance on these especially if you have a short growing season and have to wait up to 5 weeks to get flowers. Overall most consumers felt mislead and were unhappy with this product. There were a few gardeners who had good results.
