The Aqua Doodle mat was one of the hottest selling toys for Christmas in 2005 and 2006. They were sold old in most stores. People were actually buying them in bulk and selling them on eBay! I can see why kids and parents are extremely happy with this toy.

Aqua Doodle Instructions
Fill the [tags]aqua doodle[/tags]pen with water and kids can write with it as you would any marker.
Your child can use the pen to run over the white area of the canvas and blue lines will appear. As soon as the water dries, the marks disappear and leaves behind a clean white canvas for your child to draw over and over again. Around this large drawing area are shapes, figures and small animals, with matching words for the budding artists to copy and learn from.

- It’s a spill proof pen. The markers are made to screw on the opposite way so kids won’t accidentally open them.
- The mat itself has letters (all lowercase) and numbers around the inside perimeter. The outside perimeter has shapes and directions to draw a person, house and a dog.
Cons:
- The older Aqua Doodle sets only had one pen. I now see a lot of the mats come with more than one pen. Just double check just in case. Kids always want a friend, sibling or parent to share in the fun so two or more pens are always better.
- There are no capital letters along with the lowercase letters. Children usually learn those first. It would be nice kids the difference between upper and lower case letters.

The standard mat is 32”x32” and is only large enough for two or three children.
Thee larger wall mat that is on the As Seen on TV site is 38” by 27”. This one also comes with 2 pens and "Doodle on the Go". Doodle on the go is a smaller version of the aqua doodle mat but is much smaller and is more for use in the car.
One parent mentioned that he was able to get a SpinMaster Aqua Doodle Basic Mat with the two pens at KBToys.com. He mentioned it took only a few days for delivery.

Handy Hints
- Keep the pens and stampers in a large zip top bag.
- You can buy an additional accessory set if your kit has only 1 pen.
- I don't suggest leaving the mat down when there are crayons or pens around since children might think they can write on it with those as well.
- The mat wrinkles when folded. Just roll it up fairly loosely instead of folding it.
- Instead of pens, watercolor paint brushes work great as well. Older children might enjoy using these for more creative works of art.
