HydroSurge Rapid Bath Cleans Your Pooch in 3 Minutes Flat

May 31st, 2009 · 5 Comments

HydroSurge Rapid Bath claims they can clean up your pooch in 3 minutes or less. We’re taking wash, shampoo, condition and rinse.  I thought this might be handy for pet owners especially in the spring and summer months. Dogs are always picking up the worst things in their fur.   Heartland News put this cool little gadget to the test on Celie a Newfoundland and Charlie the Chihuahua.

The Good

  • You don’t have to brush or pre-wet your dog before using Rapid Bath.
  • You’re saving money on professional grooming fees.
  • It really does live up to the claim of cleaning and rinsing a large dog in 3 minutes. A small dog can be cleaned in 45 seconds flat!Rapid Bath Review
  • Great for a quick bathing after your pet has been to the beach or pool.
  • Dogs won’t run away before a bath. Dogs will sit calmly and enjoy being bathed since it’s a nice, relaxing massage bath.
  • It’s convenient and easy to make it part of a routine. After walking a dog you can clean them up without a lot of hassle. I was thinking that there must be a point where bathing a dog too often would dry out your pet’s fur. Rapid Bath advices every 2-4 weeks for a bath. I guess you could use it without the shampoo on a daily basis.
  • You don’t need to scrub the hair if you use Rapid Bath against the direction of the hair.
  • Dogs are much cleaner than washing by hand.
  • The shampoo has conditioner in it so it cuts down on one step.
  • It has a pivoting nozzle so you can wash and rinse underneath your pooch.
  • The RapidBath shampoos are good quality. They are formulated with the finest skin and coat conditioners and a professional grade, naturally derived, cleaning product.

The Bad

  • Only the specially formulated RapidBath shampoo cartridges work with the RapidBath system. The system requires the shampoo to be highly concentrated.
  • You need to have good water pressure for it to clean and rinse your dog. The instructions advise a minimum of 3 psi.
  • It doesn’t work on kitchen sink faucets since they don’t have enough water pressure.
  • It’s a bit pricey at $70 and a three pack of shampoos cost around $10.

How long to the Shampoo Cartridges Last?

A shampoo cartridge lasts differently for different dogs. It depends on how dirty your dog is, the size of the breed, coat thickness and length. Also good water pressure helps too. On average, you can bathe a standard Golden Retriever two times per cartridge. Smaller dogs may get up to  five baths per cartridge. An English Sheepdog that just rolled around in the mud might require an entire cartridge.

HydroSurge Rapid Bath looks like a good buy. Dog owners especially those that have large breed dogs seem to really love it. You can hose them all down at once. A huge time saver! For small dogs I’m not convinced that it’s that necessary and might be to overwhelming for them, like poor Charlie in the video. He almost fell over from the blast of water. By the way, if you’re considering using the Pet Vac, don’t bother it turned out to be a total dud in this review.

Tried mine out for the first time today and was truly impressed. I used 1 cartridge on 2 labs and a springer spaniel and still had some left. It works great, as advertised. Took about 3-5 minutes for each dog and I do plan on using it every 3 weeks or so.

That’s so good to hear! Finally an infomercial product that actually works. So one cartridge washes all three of your dogs. Pretty impressive!

I have two large dogs (lab and shepherd). I use a cartridge per dog. I could probably get away with one cartridge for both of them but I wash them REALLY well. It is a pretty good tool as you don’t have to stop, put on the soap, rub it in, rinse it off. You can do all of these things at once.

I would like to buy this in the UK. Does anyone know if it is exported?

Polly, I just located that UK link above…it’s a bit cheaper than shipping all that way from the States. :)
