The Pooch IQ Test has been all over the media lately…Have you ever wondered if your dog a canine wonder? Maybe he can barely walk and chew kibble at the same time! Well these canine IQ tests are somewhat of a new phenomenon. It’s hardly a surprise since society is so fascinated with their four-legged companions. Watch this CBS video with Debbie Turner doing a little experiment on three pooches. A German Shepard, a Terrier Mix and a Beagle. See how they do on this intelligence test! (You’ll have to wait through a 15 sec commercial.)
Pooch IQ Test Comes with These Goodies
1. Test book with detailed IQ explanations, scoring key and 15 exercises
2. Squeaky bone
3. Plush dog puzzle
4. Testing toy to hide treats
5. Face mask
6. Three plastic cups
7. Rubber cone toy
8. Bouncy ball
What Specifically Does it Test?
- Obedience intelligence
- Instinctive intelligence
- Learning for experience
- Short-term memory
- Persistence
- Ability to see similarities
- Problem-Solving skills
- Reasoning skills
Every exercise includes easy-to-follow steps, descriptions, materials and scoring instructions. After you and your pooch make it through all 15 quizzes and all the scoring is complete, you just tally up your pups points. Then match the points to their IQ description.
Things to Consider
- When the novelty of the test wears off, your dog can still play with all the toys.
- Some exercises take longer than others.
- You and your dog might not be able to make it through all of those tests at once. Maybe spread them out over a couple of days.
- The instructions call for additional materials than what is in the kit.
- You get a chance to play and bond with your dog and learn more about them.
- And the most fun of all…you can pit your pup against your neighbor’s pooch. Then prove who has the smartest dog!
The Pooch IQ Test has one drawback though. It’s great if your dog is on the higher end of the intelligence test. Then the test is really fun. Although, watch the poor little beagle in the video. He’s not really into it. So I can imagine it might be a disappointment getting this kit and not really being able to do anything with it. No matter what their score is, all pups deserve an A+ in my book. BTW here’s another very hyped up infomercial product…. the Furminator! You may have wondered if it’s the real deal. I’ve got a couple of videos reviewing that product.
