Innovative Easter Gifts from Around the World

April 11th, 2009 · No Comments

Easter eggs, chocolate bunnies, Easter baskets…Every family has their own special Easter tradition.  Just for fun, and since I love to feature unusual gifts and weird inventions, I’ve collected 4 unique Easter gifts from around the world.  Two are from the British Chocolate Company, Thorntons.  For the past two years they’ve come up with two really unique ideas.

Romantic LED Easter Egg Light

Need a little egg-citment in your life? Just in time for Easter here is Japan’s new Feeling Eggs which will as the ad says, “bring you good feelings”. These aren’t your ordinary eggs of course. They glow with cool ambient LED light that floats on water. They come ingeniously packaged in an egg carton. The packaging gives you advice on how to use the little eggs…either in the bath or on your furniture or by arranging them in groups. It also warns you not to eat these eggs. Glad they clarified that for us!

Thorntons Celebrity Easter Eggs

Thorntons is a British chocolate company that has some clever ways to celebrate Easter and at the same time promote their company. In 2008, they celebrated Easter by creating five Easter eggs of people that represented a spectrum of British Culture. We have Victoria and David Beckham, Gordon Brown, Prince Harry and Lily Allen.

It’s unique in that Thorntons worked with a design team, known for their graffiti-style art, to create the eggs. Dark chocolate was used to stencil the portraits onto white Easter Eggs. They later went on sale at eBay and profits were donated to a children’s charity.

Thorntons Chocolate Billboard

This is a choco-holics dream come true! In 2007 the same chocolate company created the very first chocolate billboard in London! It weighed 860 pounds and was made of pure chocolate. It was 9.5 ft high and 14.5 ft wide. What was it made from? 128 chocolate panels,  72 giant chocolate eggs and 10 chocolate bunnies. That’s a whole lot of chocolate! They only had one mishap. During assembly, one of the panels fell off and five bunnies were broken but luckily there were some spares.

Once they unveiled the billboard, Thorntons invited all shoppers to jump in and grab themselves a bite.  It only took 3 hrs for the billboard to be devoured what took 3 months, 10 people and 300 hours to assemble.

“There was something for everyone from giant bunnies to hazelnut eggs,” said chocolatier Barry Colenso.

Funny Bunny Pooper

I think kids like these types of gifts. It’s a little wacky but fun.  The Funny Bunny Pooper is a toy bunny that jumps around and poops jelly beans all over the house. All you have to do is wind him up & watch him go!  Now what an innovative little gift
